<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />iv <br />Pleasanton Parks and Recreation Master Plan <br />Executive Summary 2014 <br />Cultural Arts and Community Events <br /> Provide greater access to arts programs by offering programs at venues closer to resident’s homes <br /> Develop multi‐cultural arts programs and activities that promote personal connections among <br />participants <br /> <br />Aquatics <br /> Evaluate the opportunity to expand joint use of the Amador High School pool to be utilized as an <br />advanced training center <br /> <br />Outreach and Partnerships to Serve Adults Age 50+ <br /> Evaluate the opportunity to expand the current Senior Center to provide space for additional <br />classes, computer lab, fitness center and other new programming <br /> Within existing programming, market to older adults with an emphasis on well‐balanced fitness <br />programs <br /> Evaluate the continuing operation of the Para‐transit Downtown Route <br /> Provide more “inter‐generational programming” to bring various age groups together <br /> <br />In addition to reviewing recreation programming opportunities, Section Three includes a subsection <br />outlining recommendation regarding enhanced support services which could benefit recreation <br />programming overall. This subsection focuses on coordinated fiscal and overall planning within the City, <br />assuring a well‐trained and stable Community Services work force, enhanced opportunities for <br />volunteerism and marketing of City resources. Some of the most notable recommendations include: <br /> <br /> Increase cooperation with local services clubs for park maintenance <br /> Pursue additional public‐private partnership to provide recreational programs <br /> Evaluate opportunities to transfer management of facilities and programming to specialty private <br />sector firms <br /> Review potential for additional rented group picnic sites <br /> Continue park facility branding <br /> Promote social media marketing <br /> <br />Recreation Facility Recommendations <br />The facility assessment outlined in Section Two includes an analysis of existing conditions and future <br />needs and suggests enhancements to better meet current and future facility and program needs. As an <br />outcome of that process, Section Four outlines specific recommendations regarding <br />enhancements/expansion of existing facilities, potential for new facilities to meet current and <br />anticipated future needs and improved maintenance to address some deferred maintenance issues. In <br />general, the recommendations for expanded and new facilities are based largely on community input <br />which reflects an overall community interest in these facilities. <br /> <br />Consistent with the overall organization of the Master Plan, the recommendations and findings related <br />to facilities are listed below: <br /> <br />Facility Changes to Meet Existing Demand <br /> One additional off‐leash dog park at least two acres in size <br /> One additional skate park at least .5 acres in size <br /> One additional lighted synthetic turf multi‐use sports field
