RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON AMENDING THE MASTER FEE SCHEDULE TO ESTABLISH A FEE FOR PROCESSING, REVIEWING, AND APPROVING THE ISSUANCE AND RENEWAL OF CONCEALED CARRY WEAPONS PERMITS WHEREAS, California Penal Code sections 26150 and 26155 provides that a Sheriff of a county or the Chief or other head of municipal department of any city, or city and county, shall issue or renew a permit to carry a pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person known as a Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) permit; and WHEREAS, up until April 30, 2024, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office processed applications for CCW permits and issued CCW permits where appropriate for those individuals who reside in Alameda County; and WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton is a municipal corporation in the County of Alameda; and WHEREAS, beginning on May 1, 2024, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office will only accept, review, and issue applications for CCW permits to those individuals who reside in unincorporated Alameda County; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Penal Code 26150 and 26155, the City of Pleasanton Police Department is required to review applications for, issuance of, and renewals of, CCW permits from those individuals residing in the city of Pleasanton; and WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton now wishes to establish a fee schedule as described in Exhibit A; and WHEREAS, staff has determined these fees are reasonable based on an estimate of anticipated staff time necessary to process the application for, issuance of, and renewal of, CCW permits from the individuals residing in the City of Pleasanton in a timely manner, and in accordance with the law and City Council Policies, and that the proposed fees are consistent with fees for processing similar applications of other local agencies in the area. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: SECTION 1. Section V (B) of the Master Fee Schedule titled Concealed Weapons Permit, is amended to establish the fee schedule as described in Exhibit A. SECTION 2. City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this resolution and enter it into the book of original resolutions.
