City Council Minutes Page 5 of 6 March 5, 2024 <br />Ayes: Councilmembers Arkin, Balch, Nibert, Testa, Mayor Brown <br />Noes: None <br />Absent: None <br />Mayor Brown called a recess at 8:55 p.m. and reconvened at 9 p.m. <br />15.Introduce an Ordinance amending Municipal Code Chapter 17.16 Tree Preservation <br />and receive an update on the Urban Forest Master Plan and outreach results <br />Recommendation: <br />1.Introduce an ordinance amending Chapter 17.16 of the Municipal Code regarding <br />tree preservation. <br />2.Receive an update on the Urban Forest Master Plan and outreach results. <br />Matt Gruber, Landscape Architect, and Kevin C. with Dudek, presented the item and <br />answered questions. <br />Mayor Brown opened public comment. The following individuals provided comment: <br />Mary Jane Medeiros, Sunil Hariani, and Amy Neely. <br />Mayor Brown closed the public comment. <br />MOTION: It was m/s by Nibert/Brown to establish an ad-hoc subcommittee to consider <br />the heritage tree ordinance. The ad-hoc subcommittee membership is to be comprised <br />of Councilmembers Arkin and Testa and one member of the current heritage tree <br />appeal board. <br />Ayes: Councilmembers Arkin, Balch, Nibert, Testa, Mayor Brown <br />Noes: None <br />Absent: None <br />At 10:30 p.m. by majority consensus, the City Council continued item 16 to a future <br />meeting date. <br />16.Review of Pavement Management report completed by AMS Consulting for the bi- <br />annual evaluation/reclassification of Street Surfaces Project, CIP No. 21521 <br />Item continued to a future meeting. <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL <br />Mayor Brown requested a cost-reduction firm be hired to help the City assess cost- <br />reduction needs.
