Page 1 of 2 <br />Item #2 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> <br />May 7, 2024 <br />City Council <br /> <br />TITLE: RATIFY COMMISSION AND COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br />In March 2024, the City solicited applications to fill vacancies for expiring committee and <br />commission terms. Applications were received, screened, and interviews held. The Mayor's <br />selections for appointment are listed in Attachment 1. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Ratify Commission and Committee appointments. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />In accordance with commission/committee appointment policies, the City solicits applications <br />from interested Pleasanton residents to serve on the City's standing commissions and <br />committees. <br /> <br />Generally, recruitment is conducted in the spring and fall of each year. In fall 2023, recruitment <br />was not conducted due to the commission and committee restructuring efforts. Recruitment <br />resumed this spring for vacant positions in alignment with the restructure. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br />The following commissions and committees are included in the recommendation for <br />appointment: Civic Arts Commission, Economic Vitality Committee, Parks and Recreation <br />Commission. No applications were received for vacancies on the Library Commission; the <br />application for Library Commission will remain open. <br /> <br />The appointments for ratification are listed in Attachment 1. Adult members are eligible to <br />serve a four-year term and youth members are eligible to serve a two-year term in alignment <br />with the commission/committee restructure. <br /> <br />EQUITY AND SUSTAINABILITY <br />Not applicable, as this item is an administrative matter of City business. <br /> <br />OUTREACH <br />Recruitment was open for 30 days in accordance with policy. In addition, a community <br />information session on how to get involved with commissions and committees was held on <br />March 11, 2024, to encourage interested persons to apply. <br /> <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this action advances the Citywide strategic goal of Optimizing Our <br />Organization, Strategy 4 - Evaluate the organization’s structure of community engagement <br />Page 30 of 448
