To achieve these purposes, the Planning Commission is empowered <br />to approve, conditionally approve, or deny applications for CUPs. <br /> <br />General Plan Consistency <br />The subject site is designated by the Land Use Element of the Pleasanton General Plan for <br />"Business Park" land uses, which allow for a wide range of office, commercial, R&D, and light <br />industrial uses consistent with the Zoning Ordinance. The proposed gymnasium, which is <br />classified as a commercial use, is consistent with this land use designation as it would provide <br />a gymnasium to serve residents of Pleasanton and its market area. <br /> <br />Staff believes the proposed project would also be consistent with the General Plan Land Use <br />Policies and Programs listed below, as the propo sed use would: (1) introduce more activity to <br />the subject site with a new commercial use; and (2) introduce a commercial use into the <br />business park where other similar commercial uses operate. <br />
