Public Art Plaque Replacement
The City of Pleasanton’s Public Art Collection includes 44 permanent pieces. Staff have
received feedback that some plaques on public art pieces are illegible. If prioritized, staff
would survey current plaques and provide a list of recommended plaques to be replaced to
the Commission for feedback.

Project Paint Box: Utility Boxes and Newsracks
The City currently has 19 painted boxes. Project Paint Box took place in 2015, 2016, 2017,
and 2018. The staff has identified potential boxes that could be painted in the next round and
have included 2 newsracks. The addition of the newsracks in Project Paintbox is from a
discussion at the City Council Meeting on November 7, 2023, where the Council gave
direction to explore the feasibility of adding artwork to the approved newsracks. If prioritized,
staff would post a call for art, schedule a PASS meeting, as well as present the findings to the
Civic Arts commissions. The City Council would have final approval on the project.

Artistic Musical Instruments/Playground Equipment
This idea was presented by Gary and Nancy Harrington. They would like artistic musical
instruments/playground equipment to be considered in an already established park. The
equipment would be funded through the Another H.A.P.P.Y fund and in honor of Don Lewis. If
prioritized, staff would research equipment and location options, schedule a PASS meeting for
review, as well as present the findings to the Civic Arts and Parks and Recreation
commissions. The City Council would have final approval on the project.

*QR codes
QR codes is a new project. Given the City’s financial situation, staff have been directed not to
start any new City projects. This item has been included as requested by the commission as a
Page 4 of 6
