BUENA VISTA TREE SERVICE ARBORIST REPORT Page 8
ARBORIST REPORT, 544 SYCAMORE ROAD, PLEASANTON, CA. 94566 December 2023

Tree preservation measures
Impacts to trees on site during development activities can be minimized by coordinating
activities and storage of materials outside and monitoring work within the TPZ. Tree protection
measures are designed to prevent damage to trees during construction, thereby promoting tree
health and adding beauty, value, and environmental benefits to the property for years to come.
The following recommendations will help to reduce impacts to trees during the construction of
the residential addition and new hardscape.

Design recommendations and activities prior to construction
1. The contractor and consulting arborist shall meet to map the TPZ for all trees to be
retained (see illustration 1).

2. Fencing materials shall be 6’ chain link fencing or other sturdy material, which shall
remain in place for the duration of the project. No work shall be performed within the
TPZ without consulting arborist approval and monitoring as needed to prevent damage
to tree trunks and tree roots, and to document impacts. Post signs in visible locations
along the fencing stating TREE PROTECTION ZONE – NO ENTRY with the contractor’s
name, consulting arborist’s name, and contact phone numbers.
3. No equipment or materials should be stored within the TPZ. in compliance with the
American National Standard ANSI A300 Management of Tree and Shrubs During Site
Planning, Site Development, and Construction (2014). The TPZ plan shall be
incorporated into final construction plan sets and applied to all trees on site prior to,
during, and post construction. The use of lime treatments to dry the soil, and concrete
rinsates or disposal of any kind within the dripline is potentially harmful to the trees must
be removed from the site and properly disposed.

4. Fully enclose the TPZ as indicated in table 4.

5. To avoid damage to tree trunks, wrap the trunks of #1-3 and 5-8 from the base to 6’, or
the lowest branch with straw wattle.

Tree # N S E W

Fence together
1 and 2
11’ 11’ 11’ 11’
3 9’ 9’ 9’ 9’
Fence together
5 and 6
7’ Property line Driveway Property line
Fence together
7 and 8
Hardscape Property line Property line Driveway
Tree protection fencing must remain in place for the duration of the project.

Table 4.
