3200 Hopyard Road Redevelopment – Transportation Assessment
January 2, 2024
10

PROJECT TRIP DISTRIBUTION AND ASSIGNMENT
Trip distribution is a process of developing study assumptions that estimates the direction vehicular
trips will arrive and depart the study site. Trip assignment estimates specific streets and turning
movements at study intersections for project-related or site traffic.
Trip distribution and assignment assumptions for the proposed project were developed based on existing travel patterns, knowledge of the study area, prior traffic studies of similar land uses in the vicinity, and engineering judgment.
The assumed trip distribution for vehicles is as follows:
• 45 percent to/from the north via Hopyard Road;
• 45 percent to/from the southwest via Valley Avenue; and
• 10 percent to/from the southeast via Hopyard Road.
Figure 3 shows the anticipated distribution of project trips and trip assignment at each study intersections. Figure 4 shows the resulting Existing plus Project traffic volumes.
