Location and Notification Map <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the Planning Commission approve Conditional Use Permit (CUP) Case No. <br />P23-0840 based on the findings and subject to the draft conditions of approval in Exhibit A. <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SUMMARY <br />The applicant requests CUP approval to establish a tutoring facility that serves up to 24 <br />students August through May, and no more than 40 students during summer and winter school <br />breaks at 6654 Owens Drive. Tutoring facilities with more than 20 students at a time require <br />Planning Commission approval of a CUP at this location. As proposed, staff recommends the <br />Planning Commission find this use is consistent with the objectives of the zoning district and <br />will be compatible with the surrounding u ses. Conditions of approval have been included which <br />will ensure the safety and general welfare of the surrounding area, and the City in general, are <br />maintained. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Pleasanton Business Park Center Planned Unit Development (PUD) was approved on <br />February 10, 1981, by the City Council under Ordinance No. 962. The PUD was modified in <br />2010 (PUD-80-14-12M) to conditionally permit tutoring facilities with more than 20 students at <br />a given time. The applicant is requesting approval of a CUP for a tutoring facility that serves up <br />to 24 students August through May, and no more than 40 students during summer and winter
