Page 2 of 8 <br /> <br />Funding Guidelines and Priorities <br />At its meeting on November 8, 2023, the Youth Commission approved funding criteria. In <br />evaluating applications, the Youth Commission will primarily consider projects that: <br />• Encourage diversity, equity, and inclusion <br />• Encourage new participants and audiences designed to promote services that <br />benefit the Pleasanton youth community <br />• Meet the goals and strategies outlined in the Youth Master Plan <br />• Target a specific community need or gap in youth services <br />• Involve collaboration with local organizations. <br /> <br />Funding levels remained at a maximum of $7,500 per grant request. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br />Eleven applications from eight different agencies were received by the January 19, 2024 <br />deadline, totaling $82,500. The evaluation process for the FY 2024/25 Community Grant <br />Program includes an assessment by commissioners of each application received using <br />ZoomGrants. Staff have also reviewed the applications and provided a recommendation. <br /> <br />Data was collected from ZoomGrants regarding the Youth Commission’s tentative “Votes” and <br />“Average Recommended Funding.” The commission may choose to use this data as a starting <br />point for discussion towards providing its final funding recommendation. <br /> <br />Staff has provided a recommendation for funding, totaling $40,000. Agencies and their <br />respective projects/programs listed below, are provided in alphabetical order. Grant <br />descriptions in italicized text are taken directly from the original grant submissions. <br /> <br />GRANT APPLICATIONS <br /> <br />Alan Hu Foundation Requested Funds: <br />$7,500 <br />Wellness Webinars to Support Tentative Votes: 12 for / 0 against <br />Teens, Families, and Community Average Funding: $4,938 <br />Staff Recommendation: $4,400 <br />Program Description: <br />The Alan Hu Foundation Mental Health Lecture Series of webinars brings the latest mental <br />health research and resources, presented by renowned psychiatrists, psychologists, medical <br />doctors, and professors from leading universities. The lectures are provided on Zoom and are <br />designed to support middle and high school youth and their families. They are recorded and <br />available on YouTube at www.youtube.com/@alanhufoundation and on the Alan Hu <br />Foundation website to be accessible to youth, parents, teachers, and the community. <br /> <br />Staff Comments: <br />The application and all documents were completed and submitted on time. With a request of <br />$7,500 and an estimated number of 10,000 youth and parents served in Pleasanton, <br />the cost per resident is $.75.
