City Council Meeting - Submit
Submitted On:
your written public comment Feb 20, 2024, 11:34AM PST
City of Pleasanton
Full Name First Name: Julie
Last Name: Lewis
Email (this entry is disclosable
Julie@donlewismusic.com
if included)
City Council Meeting Date February 20, 2024
Agenda Item Number Agenda Item #2 and #13 in the Agenda Packet,
Comments To our Mayor, Council members, and City Staff,
I am writing in support of Kelly Cousin's letter regarding the
importance of continuing to have a Civic Arts Commission (see below).
Although I have not yet served on any commissions, I hope to do so
once I have sorted out business issues in the wake of my husband,
Don Lewis's, passing.
When we moved to Pleasanton in 1981 there wasn't much going on in
the the arts except a handful of residents with a vision to create
opportunities for this community to shine and thrive with arts as part
of our lifestyle. Wb have come so far with the help of incredibly strong
hearted, talented, and generous citizens and support from the city
and the Civic Arts Commission. It's difficult to think that we'd even
consider taking a step backwards by combining the arts and library
commissions because both are equally important but have different
needs and structure. 1/lb need an active Civic Arts Commission to
continue to process the art projects being gifted to our city by the
Harrington's art bequests as well as continued growth in our city's
other arts programs.
I appreciate your time and consideration in making sure that our Civic
Arts Commission stays intact and on track to keep moving forward to
foster and protect the current arts projects and those of the future.
Sincerely,
Julie Lewis
Pleasanton, CA 94566
Hello Fellow Residents and Past Commissioners,
This coming Tuesday, February 20th, the Pleasanton City Council will
be considering the City Staff and the Ad Hoc Committees'
