THE C ITY OT <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />PLEASANTON <br />December 19,2023 <br />Mayor and Council <br />TITLE:APPROVE FIFTH AMENDMENT TO EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT OF CITY <br />ATTORNEY DAN SODERGREN TO PROVIDE FOR A SIX PERCENT <br />SALARY INCREASE EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 19,2023, AND A FOUR <br />PERCENT SALARY INCREASE EFFECTIVE JUNE 15, 2024 <br />SUMMARY <br />The City Council appoints and evaluates the City Attorney. Daniel Sodergren has been <br />Pleasanton's City Attorney since May 2016. His employment contract provides for an <br />annual review, which occurred on December 5,2023. Based on this review and a salary <br />survey, it is recommended that Mr. Sodergren's salary be increased by six percent <br />effective December 19,2023, then by four percent effective June 15, 2024. A contract <br />amendment is attached. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt the Fifth Amendment to Employment Contract City Attorney, and authorize the <br />Mayor to sign on behalf of the City. <br />Page 'l of 3 <br />Item #2 <br />Page 8 of 270
