NSA T City Council Meeting - Submit
Submitted On:
your written public comment Nov 6, 2023, 02:27PM PST
'APs. „ED t6 G., City of Pleasanton
Full Name
Email (this entry is disclosable
if included)
City Council Meeting Date November 07, 2023
Agenda Item Number 16
Comments Dear Mayor and Pleasanton City Council,
Respectfully, as 20+ year residents of Pleasanton, our family of four
has seen the drastic rising rates of electricity, water, mortgages,
gasoline, food, insurance, clothing, household goods, restaurant
meals, etc. Compared to other parts of the country these increases
are astronomical. When these increases are done over the same
time period, living in this area is unreasonably expensive for most
people.
Whether a family is still raising a family or has finally retired after an
exemplary career, this outrageous increase in rates is
unsustainable. Pleasanton businesses leave because we can no
longer spend on wants or updates. However, the city continues to
spend on unnecessary road partitioning updates, etc. Residents sit
at home wearing three sweaters while few lights are on in the house
to save money.
Families are forced to cut back by general orders that are sent from
communities. The community needs to also cutback and live within
their means and reduce their own costs rather than believe that
spreading the costs of new projects on the residents is a
reasonable way to update a town.
Are the rate increases just for residents? Will businesses and public
services also have rate increases? There should not be any
additional assistance for water rate increases for people who are
already on public assistance. Why? Because none of us were asked
if we want to pay more for all these increases. We were only told it
was to be discussed and we could comment.
Please do not raise rates so fast and so high. V1ab have always paid
our chosen expenses on time. Vb do not choose rapidly rising rates
that are being imposed on us.
Sincerely,
