Hybrid vehicles have the same functionality as their gas
counterparts yet offer reduced emissions and fuel usage.
The purchase of the recommended vehicles will be secured through National Auto Fleet
Group #091521-NAF via Sourcewell. Sourcewell (formerly known as NJPA) was
established with the statutory purpose of assisting public agencies in meeting specific
needs that are more efficiently delivered cooperatively than by an entity individually.
Sourcewell clients can utilize cooperative purchasing contracts through similar joint
powers, intergovernmental collaboration, or cooperative purchasing laws in their
respective jurisdictions. Participating agencies include all eligible government,
education, and nonprofit agencies nationwide and in Canada.
The expenses related to the outfitting and painting of the Patrol Interceptors and
removal of police gear of the retired vehicles will be managed through a new Purchase
Order with Lehr and an existing Purchase Order the City has established with Crash
Champions. Attached are quotes for the outfitting, gear removal/strip out, and painting
of the patrol vehicles. To date, Ford has not yet released the prices for the 2024 vehicle
models; however, it is crucial to note that the window of opportunity to purchase patrol
vehicles is scheduled to open and close anytime during the month of October 2023. To
make an informed financial projection, Staff has estimated the vehicle cost based on
last year's 2023 models with a six percent escalator to account for potential price
increases.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved by:
Norm Dorais Susan Hsieh Gerry Beaudin
Interim Director of Public Works Director of Finance City Manager
Attachments:
1.
