The project also included one tree removal at 1664 Orchard Way by the City's on-call
contractor, Buena Vista Tree Service, for $3,150. The resident is responsible for $1,575
(half the total cost). Removal of the tree was deemed necessary due to extensive root
removal required to remove and replace the existing sidewalk that lifted, creating a
potential tripping hazard.
Two damaged traffic detector loops were repaired as part of the project on Vineyard
Avenue and EI Capitan Drive for $2,725. The detector loops were within the
replacement limits of the new ramps; cutting through the conduits for the loops was
required when saw-cutting the asphalt to replace the ramps. The City's on-call
contractor, St. Francis Electric, performed the repairs.
The total available funding for this project was $750,000. The expenditure totaled
$555,784, leaving a balance of $194,216. Staff recommends the remaining balance be
returned to the Gas Tax fund balance (Fund 160).
All the work and project close-out documentation has been completed to the satisfaction
of the Director of Public Works. Staff recommends the City Council accept the project as
complete.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved by:
Norm Dorais Susan Hsieh Gerry Beaudin
Interim Director of Public Works Director of Finance City Manager
Attachment:
1.
