SUCCESS BUILT ON SERVICE, QUALITY, &
COMMITMENT SINCE 1976
Incorporation of City Designed Rehabilitation Plans on Sunol Blvd from Bernal Avenue to
Junipero Street
City provided design CAD files prepared by others for rehabilitation work on
Sunol Boulevard from Bernal Avenue to Junipero Street. City requested HMH
combine this work into the HMH-prepared contract Bid Documents for a
comprehensive bid package. HMH work included revising CAD files to clearly
depict necessary work items, revisions to project specifications and plan format
updates to incorporate this adjacent project.
Pleasanton School District Bell Monument
Consistent with the project scope the design team incorporated custom layouts,
pedestals, and detailing of a monument at the northeast quadrant to display the
historic PUSD bell as a gateway monument. Project team members preformed
field measurements of the existing bell, calculations for support systems and
detailing of connections to support the requested monument.
After the 100% PS&E submittal, City directed the consultant to remove all work
associated with the bell and monumentation in the northwest quadrant. This
change caused rework for removal of all PUSD monument detailing from the
plan, specifications and estimate and revisions to the property line fence,
irrigation, and planting in this quadrant.
At the time of scoping and in the base agreement the extent to which street
lighting and supporting infrastructure were affected at Monaco Drive and along
Bernal Avenue were not well understood. After project development and detailed
civil layout, it became apparent that modifications to street lighting was
necessary and design elements were added to the project.
Structure Specification Revisior:
Structure Specifications we formatted consistent with Caltrans specification format per
the Consultant Agreement. After review, the city indicated concern with this format for
clarity in contractor bidding. The structure specifications were reformatted to be
consistent with the City's Specifications format, as directed.
Utility ke,ocation t;oorainauon
At the time of scoping, it was unknown if project improvements would require relocations
of utilities in excess of minor grade adjustments. With curb layouts significantly
constrained by public right of way, project plan development identified the need to
relocate existing PG&E vaults. HMH prepared Utility Claim Letters, conducted field
reviews and supported city activities in the development of PG&E's relocation.
