damage caused by paint, solutions, or the processes of cleaning and painting. <br /> Additional protection shall be provided for all public and private property within the <br /> worksite or adjacent areas including landscape features, infrastructure, structures, and <br /> other surfaces not to be painted but within the work zone. The worksite and adjacent <br /> areas must be completely restored to the general condition and appearance as were <br /> before the work began. <br /> 3.1 Submittals <br /> A written scope of work detailing surface preparation and painting procedures shall be <br /> submitted with the bid. Upon the request of the City, Contractor should also provide the <br /> coating manufacturer's name, product data for each coating, including generic <br /> description, complete technical data, surface preparation, and application instructions. <br /> The bidder shall procure coatings and coating application accessories from a single <br /> coating manufacturer. After work authorization approval, samples of the color specified <br /> shall be submitted for approval. <br /> 3.2 Environmental Requirements <br /> 3.2.1 Contractor shall prepare surfaces and apply and cure coatings within the air <br /> and surface temperature range in accordance with the manufacturer's <br /> instructions. <br /> 3.2.2 Contractor shall maintain surface temperatures to a minimum of five (5) <br /> degrees F (three (3) degrees C) above dew point at the time of final surface <br /> preparation, material mixing, and application. <br /> 3.2.3. Contractor shall prepare surfaces and apply and cure coatings within the <br /> relative humidity range in accordance with the coating manufacturer's <br /> instructions. <br /> 3.2.4. Contractor shall not prepare surfaces or apply coatings in rain, snow, fog, <br /> or mist. <br /> 3.2.5. Contractor shall not spray coatings if wind velocity is above the coating <br /> manufacturer's limit. <br /> 3.3 Dust and Contaminants <br /> Contractor shall schedule coating work to avoid excessive dust and airborne <br /> contaminants and shall take the necessary steps to protect work areas from excessive <br /> dust and airborne contaminants during the coating application and curing process. <br /> 3.4 Protection of Surfaces Not Scheduled to be Coated <br /> 3.4.1 Contractor shall protect surrounding areas and surfaces that are not <br /> scheduled to be coated from damage during surface preparation, and the <br /> application of coatings. <br /> 3.4.2 Contractor shall immediately remove coatings that fall on surrounding areas <br /> and surfaces that are not scheduled to be coated. <br /> 3.5 Surface Preparation <br /> 3.5.1 Cleaning All surfaces to be painted shall be scraped or wire brushed to <br /> remove all flaking or loose paint.
