11 <br /> THE CITY OF <br /> du 19 <br /> i .wu+mw, e <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> PLEASANTON. <br /> August 15, 2023 <br /> Library and Recreation <br /> TITLE: APPROVE A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY <br /> OF PLEASANTON AND THE PLEASANTON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT <br /> RELATED TO THE PROVISION OF ACADEMIC SUPPORT <br /> SUMMARY <br /> In March 2023, the City and the Pleasanton Unified School District (PUSD) launched a <br /> six-week pilot program for an Extended Day Program on weekday afternoons at the <br /> Pleasanton Library, providing students a transition from the school day to recreational <br /> and academic enrichment activities. PUSD provided staff to deliver tutoring and engage <br /> with students, and the City provided staff to facilitate recreational library programming <br /> such as games, social activities and reading. Staff from both agencies worked <br /> collaboratively to engage the students and the pilot was determined to be successful. <br /> City and PUSD staff are now proposing a formal program, through an agreement <br /> between the City and PUSD for a three-year term, with the option to extend by written <br /> amendment for an additional two years. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Approve a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Pleasanton and the <br /> Pleasanton Unified School District related to the provision of academic support. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Funding for temporary staff and program supplies is included in the FY 2023/24 - FY <br /> 2024/25 operational budget in accounts 00152301-400003 and 00152301-433154, <br /> respectively. <br /> The addition of academic support services provided by Pleasanton Unified School <br /> District staff will not increase annual costs to the City. <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br />
