Uniform changes will be at the expense of the Department. The Department shall replace Class B <br /> pants and Class B boots on a one for one basis, as needed. <br /> Section 15. Credit Union <br /> The City shall implement a voluntary payroll deduction option for employees who wish to join the <br /> Firefighter First Credit Union, First United Services Credit Union or UNCLE Credit Union for the <br /> purposes of transacting business with these credit unions. <br /> Section 16. Probationary Period <br /> 16.1 Length of Probationary Period <br /> All appointments shall be subject to a probationary period of twelve (12) months service time. <br /> Personnel who serve in a long-term acting assignment any time during the two(2)years prior to their <br /> promotion will receive credit towards the twelve(12)month promotional probationary period for their <br /> long-term acting assignments up to a combined maximum of six (6) months. All other provisions of <br /> probationary period will apply. <br /> 16.2 Notification Requirements <br /> An employee who is not rejected prior to the completion of the prescribed probationary period shall <br /> be deemed to have passed the prescribed probation period automatically subject to the provisions of <br /> Section 16.3 and 16.4. <br /> 16.3 Extension of Probationary Period <br /> The Fire Chief may extend the probationary period once for a period not to exceed ninety (90) days, <br /> in order to further evaluate the performance of the probationary employee. <br /> 16.4 Rejection of Probationary Employee—Promotional Appointment <br /> An employee rejected during the probationary period following a promotional appointment or at the <br /> conclusion of the probationary period shall be reinstated to a position in the class from which the <br /> employee was promoted. <br /> At any time during the first three (3) months of the employee's probationary period, the employee <br /> shall have the option of voluntarily returning to their previously held position. <br /> Section 17. Promotion,Demotion,and Long-Term Acting Assignments <br /> A. Promotion <br /> Promotional or open-promotional examinations may be conducted whenever the Fire Chief determines <br /> the needs of the service require. Only employees who meet the requirements set forth in the <br /> examination announcements may compete in promotional examinations. <br /> Insofar as consistent with the best interests of the Department as determined by the Fire Chief, <br /> vacancies in the Department shall be filled by promotion from within the Department after a <br /> promotional examination has been given and a promotional list established. <br /> 4894-5387-2224 Q 26 <br />
