Once the Battalion Chief has reached the top of the salary range, no further increases are <br /> available. <br /> *Effective upon Council Approval Yearly Salary Range Monthly Salary Range <br /> Salary Range $178,315 $216,406 $14,859.58 1 $18,033.83 <br /> 5.2 Cost of Living Increases(COLA)During Contract Term <br /> 2023: Effective June 10,2023, Battalion Chiefs will receive a cost-of-living increase of three percent <br /> (3%) of their base pay. <br /> 2024: Effective January 6, 2024, Battalion Chiefs will receive a cost-of-living increase of three <br /> percent(3%)of their base pay. The Battalion Chief's salary range will be adjusted accordingly. <br /> 2025: Effective January 4,2025,Battalion Chiefs will receive a cost-of-living increase of one percent <br /> (1%)of their base pay. The Battalion Chief s salary range will be adjusted accordingly. <br /> 5.3 Acting Pay—Deputy Fire Chief/Fire Chief <br /> At the discretion of the Fire Chief or the City Manager, Battalion Chiefs may be assigned in an acting <br /> or interim basis to the rank of Deputy Fire Chief or Fire Chief. When an employee is assigned and <br /> serving in the rank of Deputy Fire Chief or Fire Chief, that employee's acting rate of pay shall be at <br /> least 5%above the Battalion Chief's current pay rate beginning the first day of the acting assignment. <br /> 5.4 Salary Step After Change in Classification <br /> When a Battalion Chief is promoted to a Deputy Chief or any other position in a higher classification, <br /> the employee shall receive the minimum rate for the higher classification; provided, however, that <br /> such rate is at least five percent(5%) above the employee's current wage rate. <br /> When an employee is demoted, whether such demotion is voluntary or otherwise, that employee's <br /> compensation shall be adjusted to the salary prescribed for the classification to which the employee is <br /> demoted. The specific rate of pay within the salary range shall be determined by the City Manager, <br /> whose decision shall be final; provided, however, that the employee's rate of pay shall not be lower <br /> than the salary rate the employee would earn had the employee remained in the lower classification. <br /> 5.5 Shift Management Compensation Pay <br /> Battalion Chiefs assigned to a 56-shift schedule shall be compensated in the amount equal to 7.5%of <br /> the Battalion Chief current base rate of pay paid biweekly. <br /> Shift Management Compensation covers time spent conducting normal management and/or <br /> administrative business when not on shift;for example,participating in command staff meetings,labor <br /> management meetings, BC meetings, shift management preparation, and end of shift hold over to <br /> complete turn over, reports, and paperwork, etc. <br /> The Fire Chief, and/or designee, may approve additional compensation for the entire time spent, paid <br /> at the rate of the Battalion Chief coverage stipend under Section 5.8, when assigned to participate in <br /> off-duty events greater than three (3) hours in a single day, to conduct business outside their normal <br /> 4894-5387-2224 v2 7 <br />
