First and foremost, public safety is an issue of utmost importance to our community. A well-functioning and adequately staffed police department is crucial in maintaining law and order, protecting our citizens, and fostering a sense of security among residents. Over the years, our city has rightfully earned a reputation for its outstanding public safety record, largely due to the dedication and professionalism of our police officers. However, it has come to my attention that our police department is facing challenges in attracting and retaining talented officers due to disparities in salary and benefits compared to neighboring agencies. This is an alarming situation that requires immediate attention and action. I implore you to advocate for appropriate resources to ensure that our police department can offer competitive compensation packages, which will help - 9ttract and retain the best law enforcement professionals.
