From:Jill Miller
Sent: Friday, May 26, 2023 5:06 PM
To: Mayor and City Council <citycounciI@cityofplea santonca.gov>
Subject: City Counsel Budget
***[EXTERNAL]This message comes from an external organization.Exercise caution when opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown
senders.***
Dear Mayor,
You were quoted in this week's Pleasanton Weekly article entitled, "City Council closing in on
budget approval after final workshop" that you didn't want to reconsider the Century House
rebuild project because you don't "believe the council should be 'flip-flopping ' on projects
previously approved...unless a catastrophic situation that happens."
I believe our continued access to a safe water supply qualifies as a catastrophic situation. I don't
support allowing PFA-laden wells to supply water to the city if demand surges instead of
mandating water restrictions. You support well testing, yet I haven't seen any article that
describes the cost or accuracy or time it takes for PFA well testing to occur; who's to know if
residents might consume excessive amounts of PFAs while waiting for said test results? How
much will these tests cost? Further, do you plan on alerting residents when you plan on turning
on these wells so those closely following this issue can purchase bottled water for our
household?
I voted for you. I voted for you to make sensible decisions whether the economic climate was
sunshine and roses or it approached hard times. We are in the latter situation and this demands.,
thoughtful action. Such action would include allocating additional monies to water funding
because the water enterprise fund is not big enough to cover the costs. The time is NOT for
funding a Century house renovation and a skate park, neither of which will be used by the entire
city. The time IS for funding water, which is required and will be used by all.
Please reconsider Century House, Skate Park and other discretionary spending. Please prioritize
safe water access for all.
Thank you,
Jill Miller
Pleasanton resident since 2003
"Somewhere inside of all of us is the power to change the world." -- Roald Dahl
YOUR VOTE IS YOUR VOICE.
Click here to check your voter registration.
2
