increasing crime, I strongly believe that a robust police department plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our communities. To illustrate this, I would like to recount an incident that occurred on August 10, 2021 to me and my family. On that day, two thieves stole the catalytic converter from our parked Prius in broad daylight on our side street, right in front of our house at 8 am. I personally witnessed the theft and promptly reported the incident to the police. Although a policewoman responded promptly and a detective followed up later, I was left concerned about the security of our neighborhood and asked for increased police patrols around our community to deter such crimes. Secondly, I believe that safety should be accorded the highest priority. While I acknowledge the importance of community amenities, such as the expansion of the skate park (estimated at$6 million) and the implementation of bicycle lanes (estimated at$14 million), I would appreciate it if the city could place greater emphasis on essential services like water quality and police. By directing more resources towards these areas, we can better address the immediate needs of our residents and foster a secure environment for all. I kindly request that you carefully consider my concerns and allocate adequate resources to our police department to enable them to effectively fulfill their duty of protecting our community.
