When- ever the work authorized by any permit required by this Ordinance is not commenced within ninety (90) days from the date of issuance of such permit, or whenever the work authorized by such permit is suspended and before the work authorized by such permit shall be recommenced or continued, a new permit shall be obtained as provided in this Ordinance for the original permit, and the same fee or fees shall be paid therefor as were required for the original permit. :Fses, Before any permit re- quired this Ordinance is is- 2.10 sued, tb~e applicant therefor shall pay to the Electrical In- spector the fees for each build- ing or structure as set forth in a tab[~ of fees adopted by res- olution of the City Council upon the passage of this Or~ dinance, and to become effec- tive, when this Ordinance be- comes effective. Up- on completion of the work which has been authorized by issuance of any permit, except an annual permit, it shall be the duty of the person, firm or corpora'tion installing the same to notify the Electrical Inspec- tor, who shall inspect the in- stallation within forty-eight, (48) hours, exclusive of Satur-i days, Sundays and Holidays, of i the time such notice is given or as soon thereafter as prac-i ticable. . Where the Electrical Inspector finds the installation to be in conformity with the provisions of this Ordinance he shall is- sue to the person, firm or cor- poration making the installa- tion a certificate of approval authorizing the use of the in- st~llation and connection to the source of supply, and shall send notice of ~uch authoriza- tion to the electrical utility 3.01 furnishing the electric service. 3.02 If upon inspection the installs- 3.03 tion is not found to be fully in I 3.04 conformity with the provisions 3.05 of this Ordinance the Electrical [ Inspector shall at once notify i3.07 the person, firm or corporation 3.08 making the installation, stating ] 3.0,1 the defects which have been found to exist. When ~, certificate of approval is issued authorizing the con- nection and use of temporary 3.03 work, such certficate shall be issued to expire at a time to be stated therein and shall be revocable by the Electrical In- spctor for cause. 3.04 A preliminary certficate of ap- proval may be issued authoriz- ing the connection and use of certain specific portions of an incompleted installation; such 3.05 certificate shall be revocable at the discretion of.the Electrical Inspector. When any part of a wiring in- stallation is to be hidden from view by the permanent place- meat of parts of the building, the person, firm or corporation 3.06 nstallin~ the wiring shall not- Jfy the ~lectrical Inspector and such parts of the wiring instal- lation shall not be concealed until they have been inspected 3.07 and approved by the Electrical In.qpector; provided that on large installations, ~vhere the concealment of parts of the wiring proceeds continuously, 3.08 tile person, firm or corporation installing the wiring shall give the Electrical Inspector due notice and inspections shall be made periodically during the progress of the work. The Elec- trical Inspector shall have the power to remove, or require the removal of, any obstruction that prevents proper inspection of any electrical equipment. At lea~t once in each calendar month the Electrical Inspector shall visit all premises where work has been done under an- nual permits and shall inspect all electric wiring, devices, ap- pliances, and equipment install- ed under such a permit since the date of his last previous inspections, and shall issue a certificate of approval for suci~ work as is found to be in con- formity with the provisions of! this Ordinance after the fee re- ! quired by Section 2.08 has been' paid. Con~sctton to Installation. Except where work is done under Maintenance Electricians' permit it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to make connection from a source of electrical energy or to supply electric service to any electric wiring, devices, ap- pliances or equipment for the installation of which a permit is required, unless such person, firm or corporation shall have obtained a certLficate of ap- proval issued by the Elecrtical Inspector. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to make connections from a source of electrical energy or to supply electric service to any electric wiring, devices, ap- pliances or equipment which has !been disconnected or order- ed to be disconnected by the Electrical Inspector or the use of which has been ordered by the Electrical Inspector to be disorrtinued until a certificate of approval ha~ been issued by him authorizing the reconnec- tion and uss of such wiring, devices, appliances or equip- ment. Wiring, Concealed Applicability of Article. The definitions contained in this Article shall govern the con- struction of this Ordinance un- less the contex~ is otherwise required. Approved. "Approved" means approved by the Electrical In- spector as to the equipment, etc., materials and methods of installation. Dwelling, -_~t-~le ~'amily. "Sin- gle Family Dwelling" shall mean a ~uilding designed for occupancy by one family ex- clusively. Electrical l'aspecto~. The maker's name, trademark, or o~her identifi~tion symb~, shall be placed on all electri~l materials, devices, appliances and equipment installed un- der this Ordinance. c) Exception: Electrical Ins~l- ]ations in or on buildings that are under the jurisdiction of the California ~Divtsion of In- dustrial Safety sh~ll comply wi~h the requirements ~f ~e Electrical Safety Orders of the State of Californ~ where those orde~ are more restrictive than the requirements of this Or- dinance. 4.02 ~a~o~ ~l~t~c~ Code a) In ad~tion to t,he require- ments of this Ordinance, and except a3 spec[fi~lly modifi~ by the provisions of this Or- dinance, the requirements of the National Electrical Code shall apply to all elect~cal stallations. b) ~he Nations Electric~l Code pu~bHshed by the National ~re Protection ~ssociation, as m~- ified by the ~mendments ~d additions thereto and deletions~ therefrom as set forth in the ~odel Electrical Code, is h~e- by adopted reference.
