<br /> altar, use or main~an any elec-
<br /> tric~ wiring, devices, appli-
<br /> ances or equipment except
<br /> provided by this Ordinance.
<br /> b) ~oved ~s. All elec-
<br /> trical work existing in build-
<br /> ings moved into or within the
<br /> the incorporated area of the
<br /> City after the effective date
<br /> this Ordinance shall comply
<br /> with the req-uir~ents of this
<br /> Ordinance.
<br /> c) Exlst~ Co~t~c~iom Ex-
<br /> cept for existin~ electric~l
<br /> work in ,buildings moved into
<br /> or wi~in the City, nothing
<br /> con~ined l~ this Ordinance
<br /> shall be con~trued to require
<br /> any eonstructi~ or work reg-
<br /> ulat~ by this ordinance to be
<br /> altered, change& reconstructed,
<br /> removed or demolished if such
<br /> construction or work W~
<br /> sta~led prior to the effective
<br /> date of this Ordin~ce and in
<br /> accordance with any laws or
<br /> reg~ations in effect at the
<br /> time of its installation, e~cept
<br /> when any such construction or
<br /> wor~ regulated by this Ordin-
<br /> ance is d~ge~us, unsafe or
<br /> a 'menace to life. health or
<br /> propert~ in the judgment of
<br /> the Electrical Inspector.

<br /> Ordinance sh~ll not apply to
<br /> electrical work in buildings or
<br /> structures, other than
<br /> ings for human inhabit~tion or
<br /> occupancy, Upon property used
<br /> primarily for .agricultural, hor-
<br /> ticultural, viticultural, fiord
<br /> cultual, poultry or mnimal hus-
<br /> bandry, and ~here the build-
<br /> ings or structures are

<br /> installation, alteration or re-
<br /> pair of wiring, devices, appli-
<br /> ances or equipmen/c for the op-
<br /> peration of signals or the
<br /> transmission of intelligence,
<br /> where sueh wiring, devices, ap-
<br /> pliances or equipment operate
<br /> at the voltage not exceeding 25
<br /> between conductors and do not
<br /> include generating or transfor-
<br /> ming equipment capable of
<br /> supplying more than 50 watts
<br /> of energy.
<br />g) l=xtblic Service Corporation. 1.08
<br />This Ordinance shall not apply
<br />to the installation, alteration,
<br />or repair of electric wiring, de-
<br />vices, appliances, and equip-
<br />' sent installed by or for a pub-
<br />lic service corporation for the
<br />use of such a corparation in
<br />the generation, transmission,
<br />distri,bution or ~netering of
<br />electrical energy, or for the
<br />use of such a corpoation in the
<br />operation of signals, the trans-
<br />mission of intelligence or the
<br />testing of equipment.
<br />h) Water Cra. ft. This Ordin-
<br />ance shall not apply to the in-
<br />retaliation, alteration or repair 1.09

<br /> craft operated, or intended to
<br /> be operated, under the naviga-
<br /> tion laws of the United States

<br />of construction are the equiv-
<br />alent of those prescribed in
<br />quality, strength, durability
<br />and safety. The Electrical In-
<br />spector may require that suf-
<br />ficient evidence or proof be
<br />,su%mitted to substantiate any
<br />clai,ms that may ,be made re-
<br />garding the sufficiency of any
<br />proposed materials or method
<br />of construction.
<br />· 'ee ~-~epenlptio~. This Ordin-
<br />ance governs and controls the
<br />installation a~teration or re-
<br />pair of any electrical work in
<br />any building or structure own-
<br />ed or controlled by any public
<br />or quasi-public or political cor-
<br />poration or body. However, 2.02
<br />neither the State nor any coun-
<br />ty, city, district or political
<br />subdivision nor any public of-
<br />ricer or body acting in an of-
<br />ficial capacity on behalf there-
<br />of s.hall pay or deposit any
<br />fee for the filing of any doc-
<br />ument or paper or for the per-
<br />formance of any offici~l ser-
<br />vice.

<br />or responsibility by reason of
<br />the inspection authorized by
<br />this Ordinance, or any permit
<br />issued pursuant to the Ordin-
<br />

<br />used in this Ordinance. in the
<br />Model Electric~ Code, and in
<br />the National Electrical Code
<br />which are made a part of this
<br />Ordinance by. reference, i~ in-
<br />tended to convey the common
<br />and accepted m~ning f~miliar
<br />to the Electricml Industry.
<br />~e Electric~ Inspector
<br />hereby authorized to determine
<br />~he intent ~d meaning of any
<br />provision of thi~ Ordinance.
<br />Such determinations shall be
<br />mmde in writing and a r~ord
<br />kept, which record sh~l be
<br />o~en to the public.
<br /> ~m~i~. ~y person, fires,
<br />corporation or association who
<br />violates ~his Ordinance is guil-
<br />ty of a misdemeanor and upon
<br />conviction thereof is punishable
<br />by a fine or not more th~n
<br />~ive Hundred Dollars ($500.00)
<br />or bM imprisonment in the
<br />County Jail for not ~ore than
<br />six (6) month or by ~oth.

<br />a) There ia est~bl~sh~ in ihs

<br />spector ~ho shall enforce this
<br />Ordi~nce. For such purposes,
<br />he shall have ,the power of a
<br />police officer.
<br />b) The Electrical Inspector
<br />,hereby authorized to discon-
<br />nect or order discontinuance of
<br />electric service to any electric
<br />wiring, devices, apphances or
<br />equipment found to be in vio-
<br />lation of this Ordinance under
<br />any of the following conditions:
<br />1. Failure of the owner or his
<br />agent to secure the required
<br />el~trical permit.
<br />2. Hazardous electrical work
<br />found to be dangerous to life
<br />or property due to defective
<br />wiring, devices, appliances or
<br />equipment.
<br />3. Electrical work connect~ to
<br />service without the approvml
<br />of the Electrical Inspector.
<br />Any order issu~ pursuant to
<br />this section may be made eith-
<br />er to the person using and
<br />maintaining the condition or to
<br />~he person responsible for its
<br />~sc and maintenance, and shall
<br />specify the dat~ or ~ime for
<br />compliance with its terms.

<br /> any person to do, or cause to
<br /> be done, any work regulated by
<br /> this Ordinance except to a per-
<br /> son holding a valid, unexpired,
<br /> and unrevoked Electrical Con-
<br /> tractor's License issued by the
<br /> Contractors ' Stats License
<br /> Board of the State of Califor-
<br /> nia except when and as other-
<br />' wise hereinafter provided in
<br />this section.
<br /> This Ordi~nance shall exe~npt
<br /> from licensing any work that
<br /> qualifies for the exemption
<br /> provided in Section 7048, .Ar-
<br /> ticle 3, Chapter 9 of Division
<br /> 3 of the~Business and Profes-.
<br /> sions Code of the State of Cal-
<br /> ifornia.
<br /> b Any permi.t required bY this
<br /> Ordinance may be issued to
<br /> any -person to do any work reg-
<br /> ulated by this Ordinance in a
<br /> single family dweDi.ng used
<br /> exclusively for living purposes.

<br /> occupied by or designed to be
<br /> occupied by said owner; pro-

<br /> Applic~tion for ~erm/t. Every
<br /> application for a permit shall
<br /> be made on forms furnished
<br /> by the Electrical Inspector.
<br /> Every application sh~ll pro-
<br /> vide for the address, the use,
<br /> occupancy or purpose of the
<br /> building, or pre~nises where
<br /> the proposed work is to he
<br /> done, the owner's name, and
<br /> t, he electrical contractor's name
<br /> and address, a complete des-
<br /> cription of the proposed work
<br /> and such other additional in-
<br /> formation as the Electrical In-
<br /> spector ,may consider necessary.
<br /> If it appears, upon eXamina-
<br /> tion and investigation by the El-
<br /> ectrical Inspector that the pro-
<br /> posed work wi,ll conform to
<br /> the provision of this Ordinance.
<br /> a permit shall then be issued
<br /> to the applicant, upon payment
<br /> of the fees provided for in
<br /> Section 2.0~.
<br /> M~en~ce ~.lectricia~s. In
<br /> lieu of an individual permit for
<br /> each installation or alteration,
<br /> an an,nual per,mit may. upon
<br /> application i~herefor, be issned '
<br /> to any person, firm, or corpor-
<br /> ation regularly employing one
<br /> or more electici~ns for the in-
<br /> stallation and maintenance of
<br /> electric wiring, devices, appli-
<br /> ances, and equii~ment upon-
<br /> premises owned or occupied by
<br /> the applicant for the permit.
<br /> The application shall be made
<br /> on forms furnished by the Elec-
<br /> trical Inspector. Within not
<br /> more than fifteen (15) days
<br /> following the end of each cal-
<br /> endar · nonth, the person, firm,
<br /> or corporation to which an an-
<br /> nual permit is issued shall
<br /> transmit to the Electrical In-
<br /> spector a report of all the elec-
<br /> trical work done under the an-
<br /> nual permit duriag the pre-
<br /> ceding month. Each annual
<br /> permit shall expire on Dec¢~rn-
<br /> her 31 Of the year in which it
<br /> i~ issued.
