It is designed to deliver less lethal munitions. <br /> Purpose/Authorized Uses:The 40mm launchers can be used as a less-than-lethal impact device. This <br /> is the intended use for patrol purposes by trained personnel. They can also deliver chemical agents. <br /> Use for chemical agent deployment must comply with Department Policy and are currently restricted <br /> to use by members of the SWAT Team. <br /> Fiscal Impacts: The initial purchases of the launchers will be approximately$6500. <br /> Annual Maintenance: None <br /> Personnel Cost: Unknown currently. <br /> Legal/Procedural Rules Governing Use: All use of force applications is governed by state law <br /> (including Penal Code section 13652) and Pleasanton PD Policy Sections 300 and 308. <br /> Training Required: Officers must be trained on use of the launchers by a certified instructor. <br /> Other Notes: PPD will be requesting authorization to purchase two multi-pump launchers.The <br /> launchers will be utilized as a less lethal device and stored in the patrol supervisor vehicles.
