<br />1.01 Title.

<br />1.01.~tle, Th~s Ordinance may be
<br /> c~icd as the Plumbing Code of
<br />Ph,asan~on, i~lam ed a County,
<br />California.
<br />1.02 5cope,
<br />
<br />a) Prohibited Acts. No person
<br />shall construct, install, renew
<br />or alter any plumbing or 'house
<br />drains, except as provided by
<br />this Ordinance.
<br />b) Moved Buildings. All plumb-
<br />ing existing in buildings ,moved
<br />into or within the incorporated
<br />area of the City after the el-
<br />ective date of this Ordinance
<br />shall comply with the require-
<br />ments of 'this Ordinance.
<br />b) Existing Construction E:ccept
<br />for existin~ plumbing in
<br />ings moveu into or within the
<br />City. no-thing contained in this
<br />0rinance shall be construed
<br />to require any construction or
<br />work regulated by this Ordin-
<br />ance to be altered, changed,
<br />reconstrui~ted, removed or de-
<br />molished if such construction
<br />or work was installed prior to
<br />the effective date of this Ord-
<br />inance and in accordance with
<br />any laws or regulztions in ef-
<br />fect at the time of its installa-
<br />tion, except when any such
<br />construction or work regulated
<br />by this Ordinance is danger-
<br />ous, unsafe or a menace to
<br />life, health or property in the
<br />judgment of the Plumbing In-
<br />spector or the Health Inspec-
<br />tor.
<br />c) Agricultural Buildings. This
<br />Ordinance shall not apply to
<br />plumbing in buildings or struc-
<br />tures, other than buildings for
<br />human habitation or occupan-
<br />cy. upon property used primar-
<br />ily for agricultural, horticult-
<br />ural. viticultural, floricultural,
<br />poultry or animal husbandry.
<br />and where the buildings or
<br />structures are incidental to and
<br />used exclusively for the devel-
<br />opment or operation of the
<br />properties, unless such install-
<br />ation is connected to the City
<br />of Pleasanton's sewer system.

<br /> d) Water Craft. This Ordin-
<br /> ance shall not apply to the in-
<br /> stallation, alteration or repair
<br /> of pluTn:btng equipment in ally
<br /> water craft operated, or intend-
<br /> ed to be opermted, under the
<br /> navigation laws of the United
<br /> States or any foreign country.
<br /> e) Motor Vehicles, and A/r-
<br /> craft. Th~s Ordinance shall not
<br /> apply ko plumbing equipment
<br /> on any motor vehicles or air-
<br /> craft.
<br />1.03.Right of Entry. Upon presenta-
<br /> tion of proper credentials, t,he
<br /> Plumbing Inspector may enter
<br /> any building or structure or
<br /> premises in order to perform
<br /> any duty imposed ,by this Ord-
<br /> inance.

<br /> con'trary to any law or ordin-
<br /> ance enforced by the Plum.bing
<br /> Inspector, he shall issue a
<br /> notice to the responsible per-
<br /> son to stop work on that por-
<br /> tion of the ,work on which lhe
<br /> violation has occurred. The no-
<br /> tice ,shail state the nature of
<br /> the violation and no work shail
<br /> be done on that portion until
<br /> the violation has been recti-
<br /> fied and approval obtained
<br /> from ihs Plumbing Inspector.

<br /> Plumbinc Inspector may ap-
<br /> prove the use of materials or
<br /> methods of construction other
<br /> than those prescribed %y this
<br /> ordinance, if he finds that the
<br /> proposed materials or meth-
<br /> ods ,of construction are the
<br /> equiva'~ent of these prescribed
<br /> in quality, s~rength, durability
<br /> and safety. The Plumbing In-
<br /> spector may require that suf-
<br /> ficient evidence or proof be
<br /> submitied to ,substantiate the
<br />
<br /> claims that may ,be made re-
<br /> garding the sufficiency of any
<br /> proposed materials or method
<br /> of construction.
<br />1.06 :Pee ~-xemVtion. This Ordinance
<br /> governs and controls ~che in-
<br /> stallation, alteration or repair
<br /> of any' ,l~lur~bing in any ~)uild-
<br /> lng or structure owned or con-
<br /> trolled ~by any ~)ublic or quasi-
<br /> public or political corporation
<br /> or ~body. Ho~vever, neither the
<br /> State nor any county, city, dis-
<br /> rtrict, or Dolitica/ subdivision
<br /> nor any public officer or body
<br /> acting in an official capacity
<br /> on behalf thereof shall pay or
<br /> deposit any fee for the filing
<br /> of any document <)r ~aper for
<br /> the .performance of any official
<br /> service.
<br />1.07 iLi~Lllty of ~lty or F,~ployee.
<br /> This Ordinance shall not
<br /> construed as imposing upon the
<br /> City of Ple~santon any liabil-
<br /> ity or responsibility' for dam-
<br /> ages res~ltln~, from any de-
<br /> fective plumbing work or in-
<br /> stallation thereof; nor shall the
<br /> City of Pleasanton nor any
<br /> official or employee thereof be
<br /> held as assuming any liab/,lity
<br /> or responsibility bY reason of
<br /> the inspection authorized by
<br /> this Ordinance, or any permit
<br /> issued ~pursuant to this ordin-
<br /> ance.
<br />1.05 ~ntsrpre$~tlo~- The language
<br /> used in this Ordinance and in
<br /> the Uniform Plum~ing Code,
<br /> which is made a pa~t of this
<br /> Ordinance .by reference, is in~
<br /> tended to convey the common
<br /> and accepted meaninK familiar
<br /> to the ~Plum.bing Industry.
<br /> '/'he Plumbing Inspector is
<br /> hereby authorized to determine
<br /> ~he intent and maenin~ of any'
<br /> provision of this Ordinance.
<br /> Such determinations shall be
<br /> made in writing and a~ record
<br />
