the backfill and compaction of the trench backfill associated with the pipeline
installation. The material testing services are estimated to cost $8,000.
Installing the pipeline in Hopyard Road is expected to be slow work as it involves
trenching very close to other active utilities. Since the work will be occurring at night due
to traffic impact concerns, and dependent on the City's Public Works Inspection group's
workload when the pipeline is being installed, it may be necessary to use consultant
inspection services. If so, the inspection services will be provided under the City's
existing on-call construction management and inspection professional services
agreement. If needed, consultant inspection services will be billed on a time and
material basis and are estimated to cost $27,000, assuming a three-week duration.
Budget
While the financial balance of the water enterprise fund has decreased in recent years
due to reduced revenues from mandatory drought conservation coupled with the
needed additional purchase of water, continuing to complete projects that maintain the
City's water infrastructure remains of critical importance. This project is funded as part
of the FY 2022/23 Water Replacement Project, CIP No. 23183, with a programmed
amount of$1.0 million. The anticipated expenditures for this project total $419,574,
including $50,000 for the project contingency, and $35,490 for material testing,
inspection services and advertising. The funding and anticipated project expenditures
are detailed in Attachment 1.
Schedule
The start of construction will begin in early June and be completed by the end of July
2023.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved by:
Stephen Kirkpatrick Susan Hsieh Gerry Beaudin
Director of Engineering Director of Finance City Manager
Attachments:
1.
