Page 5 <br /> <br />Current Year Analysis <br />Intersection <br />The intersections with the most collisions (vehicle, bicyclist and pedestrian combined) were identified for <br />the current year and compared to both last year and the previous three-year period. The intersection of <br />Foothill Road at Dublin Canyon Road appears on all three lists. There are often year-to-year fluctuations <br />in collision locations, which is why the three-year trend is included in the analysis. Traffic engineering staff <br />analyzed each intersection in detail to identify correctable patterns. <br /> <br />It is important to note that as congestion/traffic increases to pre-pandemic levels we are seeing some of our <br />busier intersections appear back on the high collision location list. The intersections of Santa Rita Road at <br />Valley Avenue and Hopyard Road at Stoneridge Drive were both absent from the list last year for the first <br />time (both average 6+ crashes per year historically). Both locations have returned to the list this year <br />suggesting that congestion is a major factor in collisions. <br />The top three intersections are described below as well as any intersections where staff identified <br />patterns/improvements. <br />Santa Rita Road at Valley Avenue <br />Six of the ten collisions were of the rear-end type with three in the evening commute. However, no <br />pattern of the leg of the intersection they occurred.
