An interconnected trail network would be of huge benefit to safety of the community at large. I am concerned that funds will come from the Measure BB that is already required to be used to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety. Taking funding away from one safety project to fund another doesn't improve overall safety. I'm actually confused as to why I even need to advocate for trail repair and maintenance. As Ms. Testa correctly pointed out at the last priority setting meeting, far too many projects that should be budgeted in the repair and replacement operating budget were coming before the Council for prioritization. That seems to apply to the Alamo Canal Trail repairs. The City is still publishing trail maps showing the Trail from 1-580 to W Las Positas and the Arroyo Mocho Trail from that point to Hopyard as paved trails. Nothing could be further from the truth. 1
