garden into reality. Your support, along with the community at large, helped us raise over
$27,000 through our Incredible Edible Plant Sale, held at the Pleasanton Senior Center, earlier
this month. Those monies will go towards our goal of establishing the foundation for The
Educational Garden at The Bernal Community Park.
In order for this foundational work to truly begin we need your support to:
1 . Identify the exact fencing line location. The delineation will help us start the design
process for fencing and to know the precise space we are responsible for.
2. Grant us written permission to develop our portion of the site. This will enable us to
formalize our design plan and increase fundraising activities for the garden.
3. Determine the location of the Compost Hub and formalize the decision with
StopWaste.org in support of S131383. With the development of the Compost Hub we can
and will be able to provide education on the importance of compost and soil health as
well as uses in the garden and the benefit to the health of the community overall.
4. Obtain a written agreement for water usage at the site. This will enable us to plan for the
layout of the site. Per City staff a water line is available and ready for use on the east side
of our future site.
5. Approval for storage facilities at the site. These will house tools and supplies needed to
work the site itself and for our future plant sales.
While we understand much of our work hinges on the development plans for the overall Bernal
Community Park, we believe the items above are in support of the plan and pose little risk to
moving forward. Our visual presence at the site is and will continue to be a demonstration of the
City's commitment to providing the community with environmentally sustainable areas for
residents and visitors alike to enjoy and prosper from.
As always, thank you for your continued support of this joint project.
Sincerely,
The UC Master Gardener Educational Garden Team
2
