18 <br /> THE CITY OF <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> PL£ASANTON <br /> April 18, 2023 <br /> Police <br /> TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE STATE HOMELAND SECURITY <br /> GRANT FOR VEHICLE INCURSION BARRIERS IN THE AMOUNT OF <br /> $168,000 AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A <br /> CONTRACT WITH MERIDIAN RAPID DEFENSE GROUP TO PURCHASE <br /> 16 BARRIERS AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF <br /> $193,811 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> In 2021, the Police Department applied for a grant through the State Homeland Security <br /> Grant Program to obtain funds for vehicle incursion barriers. The barriers will promote <br /> security during road closures for special events. The grant was awarded by Cal CIES <br /> and requires City Council approval to accept. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Adopt a resolution to accept the State Homeland Security Grant for vehicle barriers in <br /> the amount of$168,000 and authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement with <br /> Meridan Rapid Defense Group to purchase 16 vehicle incursion barriers and associated <br /> equipment in the amount of$193,811. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> $168,000 has been awarded through the State Homeland Security Grant Program for <br /> the purchase of 16 vehicle incursion barriers, two trailers and associated equipment for <br /> deploying the barriers. Since the grant application was submitted in 2021, the cost for <br /> the barriers and equipment has increased by $25,811 . The increase will be funded by <br /> the Police Department's FY 22/23 budget. <br /> Page of <br />
