<br /> 1. Foundation Inspection. Footing and founda-
<br />tion inspections shall be made after excavations for foot-
<br />ings are complete and any required reinforcing steel is in
<br />place. Plumbing, mechanical or electrical components
<br />are required to be in place. For concrete foundations,
<br />required forms shall be in place prior to inspection. The
<br />foundation inspection shall include excavations for
<br />thickened slabs intended for the support of bearing
<br />walls, partitions, structural supports, or equipment. Ma-
<br />terials for the foundation shall be on the job, except
<br />where concrete is ready mixed in accordance with
<br />ASTM C 94, the concrete need not be on the job.
<br /> 2. Under-Slab and Under-Floor Inspection.
<br />Concrete slab and under-floor inspections shall be made
<br />after in-slab or under-floor reinforcing steel and building
<br />service equipment, conduit, wiring, ducting, piping ac-
<br />cessories or other ancillary equipment items are in place,
<br />but before any concrete is placed, or insulation and/or
<br />floor sheathing is installed, including the subfloor.
<br /> 3. Floodplain Inspection, in Designated Flood
<br />Hazard Areas. Upon placement of the lowest floor and
<br />prior to further vertical construction, a registered design
<br />professional shall prepare and submit documentation to
<br />the Building and Safety Official of the elevation of the
<br />lowest floor, including basement, as required in Section
<br />1612.4 of the California Building Code, or for one- and
<br />two-family dwellings, Section R322 of the California
<br />Residential Code.
<br /> 4. Shear and Roof Inspection. A lateral brac-
<br />ing, roof framing and sheathing inspection shall be made
<br />before any weather protection covering or roofing mate-
<br />rial is installed on the walls or roof of any building.
<br /> 5. Plumbing, Mechanical, Gas and Electrical
<br />Inspection. Rough inspection of plumbing, mechanical,
<br />gas and electrical systems shall be made prior to cover-
<br />ing or concealment, before fixtures or appliances are set
<br />or installed, and prior to framing inspection.
<br /> 6. Frame Inspection. Framing inspections shall
<br />be made after the roof deck or sheathing are approved
<br />and the structure is adequately protected from weather
<br />intrusion, all framing, fire-blocking and bracing are in
<br />place, all pipes, chimneys and vents to be concealed are
<br />complete and the rough electrical, plumbing, heating,
<br />wiring, piping and ducts are approved. Moisture content
<br />of framing members shall be verified in accordance with
<br />the California Green Building Standards Code.
<br /> 7. Sprinkler System Pre-Concealment Inspec-
<br />tion. Fire sprinklers shall be installed in all required lo-
<br />cations, and the sprinkler piping installation shall be
<br />tested and inspected prior to the concealment of any
<br />sprinkler system piping.
<br /> 8. Energy Efficiency Inspections. Inspections
<br />shall be made to determine compliance with the Califor-
<br />nia Energy Code, Title 24, Part 6 and shall include, but
<br />not be limited to, inspections for: envelope insulation R-
<br />and U-values, fenestration U-value, duct system R-
<br />value, and HVAC and water-heating equipment effi-
<br />ciency. Wall and concealed ceiling insulation inspec-
<br />tions are required to be made after the frame inspection
<br />is approved and before being covered.
<br /> 9. Lath and/or Wallboard Inspection. Lath and
<br />gypsum board inspections shall be made after lathing
<br />and gypsum board, interior and exterior, is in place, but
<br />before any plastering is applied or gypsum board joints
<br />and fasteners are taped and finished.
<br /> EXCEPTION: Gypsum board that is not part of a
<br />fire-resistance-rated assembly.
<br /> 10. Fire-Resistance-Rated Construction Inspec-
<br />tion. Wherever fire-resistance-rated construction is re-
<br />quired, the Building and Safety Official shall require an
<br />inspection of such construction after all lathing and/or
<br />wallboard is in place, but before any plaster is applied,
<br />or before wallboard joints and fasteners are taped and
<br />finished. Protection of joints and penetrations in fire-
<br />resistance-rated assemblies, smoke barriers and smoke
<br />partitions shall not be concealed from view until in-
<br />spected and approved.
<br /> 11. Weather-Exposed Balcony and Walking
<br />Surface Waterproofing. Where balconies or other ele-
<br />vated walking surfaces are exposed to water from direct
<br />or blowing rain, snow or irrigation, and the structural
<br />framing is protected by an impervious moisture barrier,
<br />all elements of the impervious moisture barrier system
<br />shall not be concealed until inspected and approved.
<br /> EXCEPTION: Where special inspections are
<br />provided in accordance with California Building Code
<br />Section 1705.1.1, Item 3.
<br /> 12. Other Inspections. In addition to the inspec-
<br />tions specified above, the Building and Safety Official is
<br />authorized to make or require other inspections of any
<br />construction work to ascertain compliance with the pro-
<br />visions of this code and other laws that are enforced by
<br />the department of building safety.
<br /> 13. Final Inspection. Final inspection shall be
<br />made after the permitted work is complete and prior to
