COMMITTEES <br /> Committees are established by a resolution of the City Council and are intended to be <br /> focused on more specific subject areas than commissions. Of the three committees, <br /> one is managed by the Economic Development Department, one by the City Manager's <br /> Office, and one by a combination of Community Development, Engineering, and Library <br /> and Recreation departments. <br /> Bicycle, Pedestrian and Trails Committee (BPTC): <br /> • Members: 13 (including one representative from Planning Commission, 1 from <br /> Parks & Recreation Commission, 1 from Youth Commission, 1 from Human <br /> Services Commission, 6 at large members, 1 at-large alternate member, and <br /> non-voting representatives from East Bay Regional Park District, Pleasanton <br /> Police Department, and Zone 7 Water District) <br /> • Liaison Department: Traffic Engineering (Community Development Department) <br /> and Library and Recreation Department (as liaison to Parks & Recreation <br /> Commission) <br /> • Role: Advises the Parks & Recreation Commission and the City Council on <br /> bicycle, pedestrian and trail related items including reviewing and prioritizing <br /> potential projects, policy recommendations, and the promotion of community <br /> awareness regarding non-motorized forms of transportation. <br /> • Frequency of Meetings: Monthly <br /> Committee on Energy and the Environment: <br /> • Members: 7 (6 Regular, 1 At-Large Youth member) <br /> • Liaison Department: City Manager's Office <br /> • Role: Works with City staff to prepare an Energy and Environmental Priorities <br /> Plan focusing on energy and environmental issues and strategies reflecting <br /> community opportunities, needs, and interests. <br /> • Frequency of Meetings: Monthly <br /> Economic Vitality Committee (EVC): <br /> • Members: 22 (1 representative each from various industries and commercial <br /> stakeholder groups) <br /> • Liaison Department: Economic Development Department <br /> • Role: Assess the current and ongoing business climate in the city and offer <br /> suggestions and recommendations to the City Council intended to maintain a <br /> strong economic development base. <br /> • Frequency of Meetings: Monthly <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> This review was initiated toward addressing two priorities noted in the City's current <br /> work plan: <br /> • Restructure of the Economic Vitality Committee to focus on industry sector <br /> representatives; and <br /> • Evaluate the structure of Youth Commissioners on City commissions. <br /> Page 4 of 5 <br />
