Traffic <br />Engineer Tassano explained the City Council approval process. <br /> <br />Member Henry discussed the OTS grant and asked exactly how it works. <br /> <br />5. I-580 Overcrossing Improvements Conceptual Plans (continued to future <br />meeting) <br /> <br />Associate Traffic Engineer Nelson discussed the need to prepare better conceptual plans <br />which would be brought the Committee for review. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />6. Updates from the Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> <br />Chair Fields provided an update on the Parks and Recreation Commission actions. <br /> <br />7. Updates from Project/Program/Agency Representatives <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />8. Other brief reports on any meetings, conferences, and/or seminars attended <br />by the Committee members <br /> <br />Member Nibert discussed his attendance at a seminar for Planning Commissioners <br />regarding housing laws and Housing Elements. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE COMMENTS <br /> <br />Member Piekarski discussed the annual $50,000 grant; requested a presentation on new <br />bicycle and pedestrian safety grants; and expressed concern about cancelling the next <br />two meetings due to holidays. Traffic Engineer Tassano stated staff would review the <br />calendar to determine if a December meeting was feasible. <br /> <br />STAFF COMMENTS <br /> <br />Officer Wilson explained the Office of Traffic Safety Grant and the City’s participation and <br />program implementation for use of funds, including DUI saturation; distracted driving; <br />collaborative DUI; primary collision factor statistics; red light violations; and crosswalk <br />stings. <br /> <br />Associate Traffic Engineer Nelson thanked Steve Nigro for his service.
