Housing Element Community Survey Summary <br />26 <br />o Preserve existing neighborhoods <br />‐ Policy and Program Considerations <br />o Down-payment Assistance, although many current residents are able to afford high <br />rental costs, their savings are limited and therefore unable to save up for a down- <br />payment on a home. (3) <br />o Require all developers to construct affordable housing and not allow payment of the <br />in-lieu LIHF (3) <br />o Prioritize housing near transit that is walkable (5) <br />o Restrict all three-story residential projects (2) <br />o Prioritize underutilized undeveloped properties (3) <br />o Preserve existing open space and parks (4) <br />o Prioritize housing for veterans <br />o Provide housing for all phases of life (variety of sizes and types) <br />o Reduce permit fees for new residential development (2) <br />o Streamline the permit process for all residential development (ADU’s, SFR, and <br />MFR) (5) <br />‐ Use and Design Considerations <br />o Restrict more ADUs (3) <br />o Encourage single-story smaller lots and units, or smaller one-bedroom units (7) <br />o Create more multigenerational housing <br />o Allow ADU’s above garages <br />o Many neighborhoods already have parking problems. Require any new projects, <br />including ADU’s to provide parking on-site.
