The source data is provided at the census block level. <br />These are crosswalked to jurisdictions and summarized. <br />Source: ABAG 2021 Pre-certified Housing Needs Data (U.S. Census Bureau, Longitudinal Employer-Household <br />Dynamics, Workplace Area Characteristics (WAC) files, 2002-2018) <br /> <br />There are 40,332 employed residents (i.e., residents who are part of the local and regional labor <br />force), and 59,950 jobs 4 in Pleasanton - the ratio of employed residents to jobs is 1:1.49; <br />Pleasanton is a net importer of workers. In 2018, approximately eight percent of all jobs in <br />Pleasanton were held by people who also lived in the city, and of employed Pleasanton residents, <br />approximately 15 percent worked at jobs located in the city. Table A-2 compares these <br />employment percentages to other nearby and comparable cities. Pleasanton is similar to peer <br />cities, with Pleasanton ranking relatively high on percent of employed residents working in the city <br />and in the middle for the percent of jobs held by residents. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />4 Employed residents in a jurisdiction is counted by place of residence (they may work elsewhere) while jobs in a <br />jurisdiction are counted by place of work (employees may live elsewhere). The jobs may differ from those reported in <br />Figure A-6 as the source for the time series is from administrative data, while the cross-sectional data is from a survey.
