BACKGROUND
The City Council appoints the City Manager. (See Pleasanton Municipal Code
§2.08.010.) Gerry Beaudin was appointed as Pleasanton's City Manager effective May
23, 2022. Mr. Beaudin has years of education, training and experience in local
government management.
DISCUSSION
The City Manager's employment contract provides that the City Council will provide both
an annual performance, as well as an evaluation after Mr. Beaudin's first six months of
employment. At its special meeting on December 15, 2022, the City Council considered
Mr. Beaudin's accomplishments as the City's chief executive noting completion of City
Council Priorities, management of hundreds of staff, hiring new department heads,
facilitating many capital improvement projects, smooth delivery of day-to-day services
and superior operations of the City. A First Amendment to Employment Contract City
Manager is attached that provides for a five percent (5%) pay increase for an annual
salary of$294,000, which is appropriate considering his performance in relation to city
managers in other jurisdictions and their experience and compensation.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review
Mayor Karla Brown Susan Hsieh
Director of Finance
Attachment: First Amendment to Employment Contract City Manager
