CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> PLEASANTON <br /> December 20, 2022 <br /> Library and Recreation <br /> TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING AN ADDITIONAL $10,500 FOR THE <br /> CALIFORNIA STATE LIBRARY GRANT `STRONGER TOGETHER: <br /> IMPROVING LIBRARY ACCESS' <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The California State Library, a California public research institution, directs state and <br /> federal funds to support local public libraries, as well as statewide programs and <br /> services. The Pleasanton Public Library applied for and was awarded a California State <br /> Library grant, Stronger Together: Improving Library Access, in the amount of $175,000. <br /> On November 15, 2022, the City Council adopted a resolution to accept this funding. <br /> Since that time, the State has awarded Pleasanton an additional $10,500 for this project <br /> due to the increased costs associated with the purchase of a mobile vehicle. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Adopt a resolution accepting the additional funding for the California State Library grant <br /> Stronger Together: Improving Library Access in the amount of $10,500. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The City was awarded $175,000 through the Stronger Together: Improving Library <br /> Access grant for the purchase of a mobile vehicle, professional services to assist with <br /> the selection and design of the vehicle, outreach materials, and the exterior wrap of the <br /> vehicle. $175,000 in grant revenue is included in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022/23 budget, <br /> and approximately $130,000 in expenditures are included in the Recreation and Library <br /> Department's budget. The total cost for the mobile vehicle is approximately $455,000, <br /> and the City's contribution is $280,000. At the December 6, 2022 meeting, the City <br /> Council approved a $280,000 allocation to be set aside in the General Fund for <br /> expenditures that will incur in the upcoming budget cycle. The additional $10,500 in <br /> grant award will reduce the City's share of contribution to approximately $269,500. <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br />
