<br />Bicycle, Pedestrian & Trails Committee Minutes August 22, 2022 <br />Page 2 of 6 <br /> <br />Landscape Architect Matt Gruber introduced himself. <br /> <br />Richard Larson, MIG Consulting, provided an overview of his background. <br /> <br />The Committee introduced themselves and provided their experience on the committee. <br /> <br />3. Public comment from the audience regarding items not listed on the agenda <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />MATTERS BEFORE THE COMMITTEE <br /> <br />4. Traffic Engineering project timelines and grant status updates <br /> <br />Associate Traffic Engineer Nelson provided project and grant updates on the West Las <br />Positas Boulevard Corridor Plan, I-580 Overcrossing Improvements, 1-680 and Sunol <br />Boulevard Interchange Project, Sunol Boulevard/First Street/Bernal Avenue Intersection <br />Project, Costco/Johnson Drive Improvement Projects, Cycletrack under I -580 at East <br />Dublin/Pleasanton BART Station, Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability <br />and Equity (RAISE) Grant, and ACTC – OBAG Grant for WLP. <br /> <br />In response to Member Piekarski, Associate Traffic Engineer Nelson discussed the <br />mixed-use concept and funding for the West Las Positas project and Johnson Drive <br />Roadway improvements included in the Costco project. He stated the timeline for the <br />BART project would be provided once funding was received. <br /> <br />Member Houston expressed disappointment that it would be two years before <br />construction began on the Sunol Interchange project and concern regarding safety. He <br />suggested an interim measure. <br /> <br />In response to Member Nigro, Associate Traffic Engineer Nelson stated the engineer’s <br />estimate for the Sunol Interchange was $15 million. <br /> <br />Member Nibert asked about the six-month timeframe for design from 95-100% for West <br />Las Positas. Associate Traffic Engineer Nelson explained that it was the timeline provided <br />by the engineer. Traffic Engineer Tassano explained design approval by Caltrans. <br />Member Nibert asked about the BART station grant application. Associate Traffic <br />Engineer Nelson discussed the limit of five grant applications and participation by Dublin. <br /> <br />Member Prakash asked about the type of improvements at the I-580 interchanges. <br />Associate Traffic Engineer Nelson discussed the original design and proposed <br />improvements for I-580 interchanges. <br /> <br /> <br />
