10
THE CITY OF
L£S4NTON CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
August 16, 2022
Operations Services
TITLE: APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF A 45-FOOT BUCKET TRUCK FROM
ALTEC IN THE AMOUNT OF $175,200
SUMMARY
Staff is requesting City Council approval to purchase a new 45-foot bucket truck to
replace the current 25-year old 1997 Ford F Super Duty Altec AT250G Aerial Truck
(Unit #201), which is at the end of its service life. The truck is experiencing
compromised reliability issues which have led to costly maintenance requirements and
excessive downtime, and is scheduled for replacement as part of the City's vehicle
replacement plan.
Staff is recommending replacing the truck with a current industry standard unit Ford
F550 Altec AT4OG telescoping articulating aerial device. Bucket trucks have a useful life
of 20 years and/or 5,000 hours of use. Due to the newer age of this unit, this
replacement will also help meet the California Air Resource Board (GARB) diesel-
powered regulations.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the purchase of a bucket truck for the Operations Services Department and
authorize the City Manager to execute a Purchase Order with Altec in the amount of
$175,200.00 which includes a 15 percent contingency.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
This purchase is budgeted and funded in the Vehicle Replacement Fund (510) in FY
2022/23.
