Pleosonton Unified School District CITY OF PLEASANTON
iul 15 2r,22
CITY MANAGER
rnent
hily 13,2022
City of Pleasanton
Gerry Beaudin
City Manager
200 Old BernalAvenue
Pleasanton, CA94566
RE: Donlon Elementary School Field and Housing Element Plan
Dear Gerry:
On October 28,2021, the District sent City staff a letter requesting that three District properties be
included in the 6th cycle of the City's Housing Element Plan. The properties include the District Office
(Area 25), vacant property off of Vineyard Road (Area 27), and a portion of the Donlon School Field
(Area 3). After an extensive review process, the City Council voted to include all three properties for
further consideration in the Environmental Review Process.
Since the inclusion of a portion of the Donlon School Field (Area 3) in the Housing Element Plan
process, the District has engaged with various community groups and has received helpful input from
ihe schoot community. Foltowing extensive community engagement and after careful consideration of
our long term objectives, I respectfully request that the City remove the Donlon Field (Area 3) from the
Housing Element Plan list.
I look forward to continuing our discussions and working to build consensus around a plan that will
benefit both the Donlon school and wider Pleasanton community. ln that spirit, we ask the City to
consider the following:
l. Consider entering into a Joint Use Agreement relating to the Donlon Field that would provide both
the local community and school with open field space that serves students, families, residents and
various recreation programs.
2. Regarding the PUSD Vineyard property (Area 27).we request the Cify allow the entire 10-acre site
to be designated for housing, with some element of open space in the project, in the Housing
Element Plan per the proposed housing density. This will maximize the value of the asset and allow
the District to leverage funding needed to address critical school facility improvements.
3. For the District Office property (Area 25), we request the City allow the maximum density of 163
units on 7-acres of the l0 acre property. As you are aware, the District is evaluating the possibility of
4665 Bernal Avenue, Pleasanton, Califomia 94566.925.462-4332. wwrv pleasantonusd-net FAX: 925.484-3591
