E. If two(2)or more employees from the same employing agency have the same employment date, <br /> seniority will be determined by placement on the employment list. If two(2)or more employees <br /> from different hiring agencies have the same employment date,seniority will be determined by <br /> drawing from a hat. <br /> F. Fire Prevention Personnel will utilize a vacation scheduling program consistent with the process <br /> used for suppression personnel. <br /> G. Authorized emergency vacation may be allowed due to special circumstances and temporary <br /> assignments will be made to accommodate such a need. <br /> H. Employees may cancel previously scheduled vacation at any time by notifying the Department at <br /> least twenty-four(24)hours prior to the start of the shift.However,the on-duty chief officer must <br /> also be notified whenever vacation is cancelled less than six(6)days prior to the shift. Employees <br /> are allowed a maximum of six(6)vacation cancellations per calendar year with less than six(6) <br /> days'advance notice. <br /> I. The Fire Chief may permit non-probationary employees to use of up to fifty-six(56)hours of paid <br /> vacation leave in advance of accruing such hours to their vacation leave accounts. The use of such <br /> leave shall not be prescheduled or considered earned vacation for accrual purposes. <br /> J. When an employee carries a negative balance no additional vacation may be taken until a sufficient <br /> number of vacation hours have been earned. <br /> 13.5 Vacation Pay at Termination <br /> All employees shall be paid for all vacation leave earned prior to the effective date of termination. Such <br /> compensation shall be paid to employees in one lump sum in a final check. Employees understand that if <br /> there is a deficit balance in their vacation leave accounts at termination, that deficit amount will be <br /> deducted from final compensation. <br /> 13.6 Vacation Sell Back <br /> Employees may request to sell back up to two hundred forty(240)hours of accrued vacation leave in each <br /> calendar year. Employees may sell back accrued vacation leave in one (1) hour increments with a <br /> minimum sell back of eight(8)hours on the first pay date in March,June,September and December of <br /> each year. Written requests for payment must be made by the employee fifteen(15)days in advance of <br /> the first pay date in March,June,September and December. <br /> Section 14. Sick Leave <br /> 14.1 Sick Leave Accrual—56 Hour Shift Employees <br /> All employees assigned to 56-hour work schedules shall earn paid sick leave at the rate of eleven and two- <br /> tenths(11.2)hours for each month of service while assigned to a 56-hour work schedule.
