City of Pleasanton Exhibit D: Cart Specifications <br /> Franchise Agreement with Pleasanton Garbage Service <br /> <br />City of Pleasanton Page D-1 June 7, 2022 <br />EXHIBIT D <br />CART SPECIFICATIONS <br />The Cart specifications provided in this Exhibit D shall pertain to all Carts provided by the Contractor to <br />Customers during the Term of the Agreement with the exception that the specifications shall not apply <br />to the Carts in use on the Commencement Date, which were purchased and distributed under the <br />previous franchise agreement. <br />8. CART DESIGN REQUIREMENTS <br />A. General <br />The Carts shall be manufactured by injection or rotational molding and meet the Cart design and <br />performance requirements as specified below. Contractor shall purchase Carts that contain a minimum <br />of 20% post-consumer recycled plastic content. Contractor must submit Cart orders (including material <br />and design specifications, colors, and identification marks) to City for City’s written approval prior to <br />submitting the order to the manufacturer. <br />B. Materials Identification and Decals <br />Carts or their lids must be in bright, readily identifiable colors to facilitate Customer's ready recognition <br />of Solid Waste, Recyclable Materials, and Organic Materials, subject to City’s written approval as <br />described in this Exhibit. Carts shall clearly display, by use of decal, embossing, or hot stamps, Contractor's <br />name and telephone number. Contractor shall provide and attach decals or emboss the Cart number and <br />information describing correct materials and methods for Collection; forbidding Disposal therein of <br />Hazardous Waste and describing proper Disposal thereof; and forbidding scavenging (through words and <br />international symbols) and describing the penalties therefore under California law or City Municipal Code. <br />C. Cart Handles <br />The Cart handles and handle mounts may be an integrally molded part of the Cart body or molded as part <br />of the lid. The Cart handles shall provide comfortable gripping area for pulling or pushing the Cart or <br />lifting the lid. Pinch points are unacceptable. <br />D. Cart Lid <br />Each Cart shall be provided with a lid that continuously overlaps and comes in contact with the Cart body <br />or otherwise causes an interface with the Cart body that simultaneously: <br />• Prevents the intrusion of rainwater, rodents, birds, and flies; <br />• Prevents the emission of odors;
