require further review and go through a robust planning process, including a review of the
proposed trail improvements, prior to receiving approval.
• Arroyo Trails – Maintenance staff is working with Zone 7 to repair the damaged asphalt
trail section of the Arroyo de la Laguna segment adjacent to the Dub lin San Ramon
Sewer District property. The asphalt is being returned to Zone 7’s preferred surface –
compacted aggregate base. The City has not paved any additional arroyo trails because
of the challenges and costs associated with paving on soils that experience significant
movement, are impacted by Zone 7 maintenance equipment , and that may be damaged
during major flood events. However, staff understands that the community has expressed
a desire to prioritize improving the arroyo trails and will design and construct the
improvements if City Council prioritizes the arroyo trails and allocates money to construct
and maintain them.

Submitted by:
Matt Gruber
City Landscape Architect
