<br />Bicycle, Pedestrian & Trails Committee Minutes April 25, 2022 <br />Page 4 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />Traffic Engineer Tassano stated Tammy Church, Zone 7, was present. <br /> <br />7. Other brief reports on any meetings, conferences, and/or seminars attended <br />by the Committee members <br /> <br />COMMITTEE COMMENTS <br /> <br />Member Piekarski discussed her virtual attendance at the National Bike seminar. <br /> <br />Member Nelson discussed events for Bike Month. Associate Traffic Engineer Nelson <br />discussed Bike to Wherever Days. <br /> <br />Member Nelson discussed his observations as a Committee Member; urged the <br />Committee to bring up matters for discussion at future meetings; a nd stated Police <br />Department and Zone 7 representatives were supposed to participate in the meetings. <br /> <br />Vice Chair Nibert explained Planning Commission considerations and his increased views <br />related to bike and pedestrians. <br /> <br />Member Piekarski discussed the agreement between the City and Zone 7 for trail <br />maintenance. City Engineer Tassano explained the 1971 license agreement and <br />extension. He stated the matter would be presented to the Council at its May 17, 2022 <br />meeting and explained that repairs were on case by case basis and the needed funding. <br />Member Piekarski discussed the necessary trail repairs. City Engineer Tassano explained <br />that he was involved in matters of transportation beyond recreational. Member Piekarski <br />asked about the West Las Positas $10 million grant. City Engineer Tassano explained <br />the multi-modal reconstruction project originally planned for Iron Horse Trail to Hopyard, <br />but expanded to Santa Rita to Foothill. <br /> <br />Member Piekarski asked when the Committee would return to person meetings or the <br />possibility of conducting a meet and greet. City Engineer Tassano reminded the <br />Committee to be aware of the Brown Act. He anticipated returning to in person meetings <br />in June. Member Piekarski suggested meeting in person and considering the 6 :45 p.m. <br />start time. <br /> <br />CONSENSUS <br />By consensus, the Committee directed staff to bring back an item on a future agenda to <br />consider the time of the Committee meetings. <br /> <br />STAFF COMMENTS <br /> <br />City Engineer Tassano stated he would request Police Department, Zone 7 and Ea st Bay <br />Parks representatives as a regular attendees and the City’s landscape architects as co- <br />staff liaisons. <br />
