BACKGROUND In June 2018, following a Request for Proposals process, the City of Pleasanton entered into an Agreement for Goods and Services with Preservation Arts for public art maintenance services (Attachment 2). Preservation Arts documented maintenance and repairs to 64 pieces of public art throughout Pleasanton. The public art collection was evaluated by professional art curators to create a work plan. Restoration work addressed the patina, rust, and discoloration of artwork. Preservation Arts also repaired and restored pieces that were faded or discolored due to weather conditions. The First Amendment to the Agreement with Preservation Arts extended the terms of the agreement from September 2019 through June 30, 2020. In July 2020, the City paused routine public art maintenance services due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The second amendment extended the term of the contract from December 1, 2020 through December 1, 2021 and the third amendment extended from December 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022. DISCUSSION The proposed fourth amendment to the agreement with Preservation Arts will be the final allowable contractual agreement. It will extend the term of the contract until June 30, 2023. This final amendment will ensure that the City's public art collection is professionally maintained, catalogued, and cleaned and it provides for repair in the event of damage and vandalism. In Spring 2023, staff will issue a Request for Proposal for Public Art Maintenance services to guarantee the public art collection's quality maintenance continues. Preservation Arts has provided excellent service to the City of Pleasanton since 2018, and has demonstrated professionalism, quality of work, and expertise in the field of public art conservation.
