ATTACHMENT 1 <br />MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING <br />BETWEEN <br />THE REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA <br />ON BEHALF OF ITS <br />UC Cooperative Extension Alameda County <br />Master Gardener Program <br />AND <br />City of Pleasanton <br />This Memorandum of Understanding (hereinafter referred to as "MOU") is entered into by <br />and between City of Pleasanton which is a municipality (the "City"), and The Regents of the <br />University of California (hereinafter referred to as "University"), on behalf of UC <br />Agriculture and Natural Resources and its UC Cooperative Extension Alameda County <br />(hereinafter referred to as "UCCE"). <br />PURPOSE <br />The City of Pleasanton is a municipality located in Alameda County, California, <br />that has established a Master Plan for the Pleasanton Community Farm at the <br />Bernal property to provide Pleasanton residents with a recreational and <br />educational amenity focused on community farming, home gardening, and <br />working orchards and/or vineyards. <br />The University of California Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Program <br />("MGP") is an educational program designed to teach and extend information to <br />address gardening needs in communities throughout the State of California. The <br />purpose of the UCCE MGP is to identify, train, and develop community <br />volunteers who, through the dissemination and application of horticultural and <br />botanical information and knowledge, will enhance learning and therefore the <br />quality of life for the people of Alameda County. <br />The purpose of the partnership between UCCE and the City under this MOU is <br />to plan for and develop an MGP demonstration garden site at the Pleasanton <br />Community Farm, located at 7001 Pleasanton Avenue in Pleasanton, CA to <br />benefit the people of Pleasanton and Alameda County, and achieve the <br />educational goals of the City and UCCE as set forth above. The demonstration <br />garden site, as designated by the Pleasanton Community Farm Master Plan, is <br />further depicted and described in the attached Exhibit A, which is hereby <br />incorporated by reference. <br />II. TERMS <br />UCCE is the entity responsible for the MGP in its entirety within Alameda <br />County. Program decisions are the responsibility of the UCCE County Director, <br />in consultation with the Master Gardener Program Coordinator. <br />Page 1 of 9 <br />
