I-580/I-680 INTERCHANGE (SOUTHBOUND TO EASTBOUND) <br />TVTC Project Sponsor: Alameda County <br />Lead Agency: Caltrans <br />Project Description: Project A-1 was located at the I-580 and I-680 interchange. The project constructed <br />the southbound to eastbound flyover, northbound to eastbound direct connector, southbound on- and off- <br />loop ramps, and a northbound on-ramp. <br />The project was needed to improve safety and reduce congestion on southbound and northbound I-680 <br />near I-580, and mitigate the impacts of local and regional growth in housing and employment. This project <br />was approved by the voters of Alameda County, as a portion of the Measure B sales tax program. <br />Status: This project has been completed. <br />A -2A. SR 84 EXPRESSWAY (I-580 TO I-680) <br />TVTC Project Sponsor: City of Livermore, City of Pleasanton <br />Lead Agency: Alameda County Transportation Commission (ACTC) <br />Project Description: Project A-2a is located along SR 84 between I-580 and I-680 in Livermore and <br />Pleasanton. The project will widen and reconstruct SR 84 to expressway standards. The ultimate <br />configuration is expected to consist of six lanes from I-580 to Stanley Boulevard and four lanes from Stanley <br />Boulevard to I-680. <br />The project has been segmented into five primary sections: <br />• Segment 1 (I-580 to Jack London Boulevard) – widening and Phase I of the I-580/SR 84 <br />Interchange project (Project A-2b). <br />• Segment 2 (Jack London Boulevard to a point roughly halfway between Concannon Boulevard <br />and Stanley Boulevard) – widening existing configuration from two lanes to four lanes and from <br />four lanes to six lanes. <br />• Segment 3 (Halfway between Concannon Boulevard and Stanley Boulevard to Ruby Hill Drive) – <br />widening from two lanes to four lanes. <br />• Segment 4 (Ruby Hill Drive to Pigeon Pass) – straightening the roadway alignments and adding <br />truck climbing lanes. <br />• Segment 5 (Pigeon Pass to I-680) – widening the roadway from two lanes to four lanes and <br />improvements at the SR 84/I-680 interchange. <br />Status: Below is the status of the project. <br />• Final design and right-of-way acquisition was completed in September 2020. <br />• Construction began in May 2021. <br />• Completion of construction is anticipated in spring 2024.
