IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> COUNTY OF ALAMEDA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 425 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LICENSING AND <br /> OPERATION OF BICYCLES IN THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> AND PROVIDING PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES ORDAIN <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS.: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1. LICENSE. It shall be unlawful for any person <br />to operate or use a bicycle propelled wholly or in part by <br />muscular power upon any of the streets, alleys or public high- <br />ways of the City of Pleasanton, without first Obtaining from <br />the City of Pleasanton a license therefor. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2. ISSUANCE. The City, acting through its <br />authorized officers, shall issue, upon written application, <br />bicycle licenses which shall be effective from January 1, 1966. <br />Said licenses shall be issued for each calendar year, commencing <br />on the first day of January of each of said calendar years. <br />When issued, the license shall entitle the licensee to operate <br />such bicycle for which said license has been issued, upon all <br />the streets, alleys and public highways, but not including the <br />sidewalks thereof, in the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> SECTION 3. FEE° The annual license fee to be paid for <br />each bicycle shall be $.50 and shall be paid in advance; and <br />pursuant to Section 4 of this ordinance, such license may be <br />transferred, and a fee of $.25 shall be paid for the registration <br />of such transfer. <br /> <br /> SECTION 4. TRANSFER. It shall be the duty of every person <br />who sells or transfers ownership of any bicycle licensed by the <br />City of Pleasanton to report such sale or transfer to the City <br />of Pleasanton, together with the name and address of the person <br />to whom said bicycle was sold or transferred.
